Few figures in intellectual history have proved as notorious and ambiguous as Niccolò Machiavelli. But while his treatise The Prince made his name synonymous with autocratic ruthlessness and cynical manipulation, The Discourses (c) shows a radically different outlook on the world of politics. This book answers the question on how students and teachers talk about religion when the mandatory and nonconfessional school subject of Religious Education is on the schedule in the “world’s most secular country” To do this, it analyses discourses of religion as they occur in Discourses on religion classroom : Springer International Publishing.

Historians of science and of religion, philosophers, theologians, scientists, and others from various geographical regions and cultures have addressed numerous aspects of the relationship between religion and al questions in this debate include whether religion and science are compatible, whether religious beliefs can be conducive to science (or necessarily inhibit it), and what.

This and the two following empirical chapters will analyse the content of the discourses of religion, religions and worldviews in the context of Religious Education in classroom : Karin Kittelmann Flensner.

“This is a self-help book on how to argue effectively, conciliate, gently persuade. The authors admit to getting it wrong in their own past conversations. One by one, I recognize the same mistakes in me. The world would be a better place if everyone read this book.”—Richard Dawkins, author of Science in the Soul and Outgrowing God.

A student CANNOT reference this book in an essay/5(59). There are some works of philosophy/political science that attempt to explain how the world "should be" viewed according to an often rigid and static theory of knowledge.

Machiavelli's Discourses instead explains how the world "is" and because of this is not a work of mere philosophy but of prophecy/5(59). Although these discourses, particularly citizen rights and religious discourses, are increasingly incorporated into mainstream science and welfare provision in many contexts, here, we refer to them as ‘alternative discourses’ because, like the and education book science discourses discussed in Chapter 4, they are concerned with providing holistic.
